Spiced Apple Cake (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg.
02 - 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon.
03 - 1 teaspoon baking soda.
04 - 1/2 teaspoon salt.
05 - 3 cups all-purpose flour.
06 - 1½ cups granulated sugar.
07 - 1½ cups vegetable oil.
08 - 2 teaspoons vanilla extract.
09 - 1/2 cup packed brown sugar.
10 - 3 large eggs.
11 - 4 cups peeled, chopped apples.
12 - 1/3 cup granulated sugar.
13 - 1/3 cup butter.
14 - 1/3 cup packed brown sugar.
15 - 1/3 cup heavy cream.
16 - 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract.

# Instructions:

01 - Set the oven to 325°F and coat a 9x13-inch pan with some grease or spray.
02 - Blend together salt, nutmeg, cinnamon, baking soda, and flour.
03 - Whisk the oils, vanilla, both sugars, and eggs until it's smooth.
04 - Gradually stir the dry mixture into the wet one, then gently fold in the apple pieces.
05 - Pour into the prepared pan and bake for 50-60 minutes. Check with a toothpick; it should come out clean.
06 - In a pan, heat up the butter, sugars, vanilla, and cream until bubbling. Cool for 5 minutes.
07 - Drizzle the glaze over the warm cake while it's still warm.

01 - Firm apples work best for baking.
02 - 1 cup of nuts can be added if you'd like.
03 - Stores well for 5 days or freezes up to 3 months.
