01 -
Turn your oven on at 200°C so it's hot and ready.
02 -
In a big pan over medium-high, toss in the onions and beef. Break the beef up as it cooks. When it's all brown and the onions are soft, pour out the extra fat.
03 -
Take the pan off the heat. Dump in ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, and onion powder. Mix it up well, then fold in the fried onions.
04 -
Grease a 33 x 23 cm pan. Toss in the beef mixture at the base and sprinkle 1 cup of the cheese over it.
05 -
Throw cornbread mix, eggs, and milk in a bowl. Give it a good stir until it looks pretty smooth.
06 -
Pour this batter on top of the beef layer in your pan. Smooth it out so it covers everything.
07 -
Slide the pan into your hot oven. Bake for 18-22 minutes. You want the top to turn golden.
08 -
Pull out your dish. Sprinkle the other cup of cheese over the top.
09 -
Put the pan back in the oven for just a few minutes, until the cheese gets gooey.
10 -
Let it cool a bit before you dig in. It'll hold together better that way.
