Sloppy Joe Bake classic (Printable Recipe Version)

Hearty biscuit, golden cheese on top, plus beef, peppers, and onion all mingled together. So comforting and filling.

# Ingredients You’ll Need:

→ For the biscuit topping

01 - 150 g shredded cheddar cheese
02 - 1 egg
03 - 240 ml milk
04 - 45 g melted butter
05 - 0.5 tsp salt
06 - 1.5 tsp baking powder
07 - 180 g all-purpose flour

→ For the meat mixture

08 - 240 ml ketchup
09 - 425 ml canned tomato sauce
10 - 2 tsp dry mustard powder
11 - 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
12 - 0.5 tsp chili flakes, optional
13 - 1 tsp salt
14 - 2 tbsp brown sugar
15 - 1 green bell pepper, diced (about 120 g)
16 - 1 red bell pepper, diced (about 120 g)
17 - 1 medium white onion, diced (about 125 g)
18 - 680 g ground beef

# Steps to Make It:

01 - Dish it out while it's still warm. Enjoy right away.
02 - Put the pan in your hot oven and bake for 25 to 30 minutes. The top should turn golden and bubbly.
03 - If you don't have an oven-proof pan, just move the meat mix to a big baking dish (about 23 by 33 cm). Drop spoonfuls of the biscuit mix all over the top and smooth it out so you cover everything.
04 - Toss in the brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard powder, salt, chili flakes, tomato sauce, and ketchup to the meat. Stir really well, then turn it to low and let it bubble away for about 5 minutes.
05 - Heat up a big oven-safe skillet (about 30 cm wide) over medium-high. Add the ground beef, onion, and both peppers. Cook until the beef is nicely browned. If there's extra fat, pour it off.
06 - In a big bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Pour in milk, the melted butter, and the egg. Stir until everything's smooth. Fold in all that cheddar until mixed in good. Set this aside for now.
07 - Fire up your oven to 200 °C. Use regular bake with heat from top and bottom.

# Extra Information:

01 - You can bake this right in a metal skillet if it's oven-safe. No skillet? A big dish works too.
