Set the oven to 300°F and coat a 9-inch Bundt pan with nonstick spray.

In a bowl, combine salt, baking soda, and flour using a whisk.

On medium speed, whip butter and sugar in a mixer until it becomes airy and pale.

Add eggs one by one while beating, then mix in sour cream, vanilla, and the whiskey if using.

Slowly incorporate the dry mix into the wet mixture until it all comes together.

Pour 1/3 of the batter into the pan, sprinkle half the walnut mix, then layer with another 1/3 batter, the rest of the nuts, and the final batter layer.

Cook for 70 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.

Let cool for around 15-20 minutes, then take it out of the pan. Dust it with powdered sugar for a topping.
